AM2PM presented at ISARC 2026 in Singapore
AM2PM research on predictive fabrication was presented at ISARC 2026 in Singapore, contributing to international discussions on automation and robotics in construction.
Held from 22–26 June 2026 and hosted by the National University of Singapore, the 43rd International Symposium on Automation and Robotics in Construction (ISARC 2026) brought together the international research community under the theme “Constructing the Future: Sustainable, Smart, and Lean”. The programme focused on construction automation, robotics and digital technologies for the built environment.
Representing project partner Technical University of Munich (TUM), Luca Bettermann presented the work “PFAB: A Generic Software Framework for Predictive Fabrication in Construction”, developed together with Sebastian Esser, Martin Slepicka and André Borrmann.
The presentation addressed a key challenge in digital fabrication: while greater automation and flexibility create new opportunities for construction, they also increase process complexity and the risk of costly fabrication errors.
PFAB introduces a predictive layer that uses design, material and process data to anticipate fabrication outcomes and support both process calibration and design decisions. The framework was demonstrated through both a simulated fabrication system and a Learning-by-Printing case study in extrusion-based additive manufacturing.
The work directly connects to Luca Bettermann’s role within AM2PM, where he contributes to the digital and cyber-physical infrastructure for robotic additive manufacturing.
