Apply for the IAAC × WASP Summer Camp 2026
The AM2PM project is pleased to share an exciting training opportunity organised by project partner WASP in collaboration with the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC). Applications are now open – but only until 31 July – for the IAAC × WASP Summer Camp 2026, a five-week professional training programme taking place from 24 August to 25 September 2026 at Valldaura Labs in Barcelona, Spain.
Designed for architects, engineers, designers, researchers, and digital fabrication enthusiasts, the programme offers an intensive introduction to large-scale earth 3D printing, combining lectures with extensive hands-on experience using the WASP Crane construction printer. Participants will work in a unique living laboratory where research, experimentation, and sustainable construction come together.
Throughout the five weeks, participants will explore the complete workflow of earth-based additive manufacturing, including:
Digital fabrication and design for manufacturing
Earth as a sustainable construction material
Large-scale 3D printing technologies and machine operation
Structural design and material testing
Climate-responsive and performance-driven architectural design
The programme places a strong emphasis on practical learning, enabling participants to formulate and optimise earth mixtures, operate large-scale printing systems, test structural performance, and develop climate-responsive building components using local materials.
Hosted at Valldaura Labs, located within Barcelona's Collserola Natural Park, the Summer Camp provides an immersive environment where participants contribute directly to ongoing research and full-scale construction prototypes. The programme also offers the opportunity to continue into IAAC's six-month postgraduate programme in 3D Printing Architecture or join an optional field trip to WASP headquarters in Italy.
As AM2PM advances innovative manufacturing technologies for the construction sector, initiatives such as this camp help develop the skills and expertise needed to accelerate the adoption of digital fabrication and sustainable construction methods.
